Today was a good day.

I began the morning by biking three laps around the park which came to about six miles. Then I came home and watched a few episodes of Arrow as I mainline season two. I'm already on eppy 10. The show has really come into it's own and is so entertaining. A perfect summer series.

I had to run an errand, so I walked another two miles and stopped by the Italian Festival going on in another neighborhood. Which honestly was nothing more than ten million food vendors, but it was a nice day out. I went home and took the long way around which looped me by the zoo where I got a peak of the giraffes. I love giraffes!

Then this evening I went with friends to watch The Godfather on the big screen. I forgot how atmospheric that film was shot. What a lovely time.

Now, I'm sacked out on the sofa with a glass of wine and a cupcake. Guess that means more Arrow.

I attended the Super Hero Race/Walk. It was great to see a nice crowd, especially a diverse group of people of all ages. Major kudos to those who wore costumes during the warm weather. I spotted tons of diff comic book t-shirts for those who aimed for practical. :)

Road 2 Recovery Superhero 5k Race & Wellness Walk is an annual event that highlights the strength and diversity of the mental health community of Western New York, in addition to offering a premier racing venue for the larger community.

In its 27th year, this event is sure to be the biggest, and most fun it’s ever been.

Beginning in 1985 as the Run for Brain Research and evolving over time to become the Road 2 Recovery Mental Health 5K Run and Wellness Walk, the local mental health community has worked to increase awareness of, and raise money for, those striving for greater mental wellness in Western New York through the annual event.

Yes, it is encouraged to dress up in costume. Race will be held by the park near where I live and I shall attend to cheer everyone on :)

I have not owned a bike since I was a kid and last weekend I got one. Each day I've worked on my endurance, learning how to use the gears so I don't tire out my legs. Today after work was the first time I made it all the away around the park. (1.77 miles) And I did it twice. \o/

This was my reward.

Fan made Supernatural Trailer- The Profound Bond

01 June 2014 @ 10:58 pm
So, I re-watched The Avengers tonight for the dozenth time and I'm looking for some fic recs.

I know there is giant ocean of stories but I'm in the mood for post/aftermath of the film. Team with some h/c elements. I'm partially fond of the beginnings of Stark's PTSD arc. I also love Natasha and Clint stuff, Tony and Bruce. Tony and Steve. Any pairing or gen. But I want the fics that stuck with you for a while. The 'classics" as it were. No WIPs, please.

You guys know what I like to read and write :)

Thank you!

The friendship of a burro and a goat.

This brought me tears of happiness.

In the last four weeks I have watched all of BBC Sherlock which I ate up with a spoon and I just finished all three seasons of Scandal which was loony tunes on crack.

I think I'll watch S2 of Arrow next. I stopped watching because of all the mindless subplots, but I did enjoy most of the cast and fast action. And after Scandal, I don't think the side of soap suds will bother me :)

My TV viewing has me all over the map. Ha!

Just an update in the H50 AU of doom since people have asked. It is still alive. The fic is the size of a novel and it takes time to beta and get it right :)

I'm also doing a re-watch of all the Marvel movies since I must be the only person on the planet who has not seen The Winter Soldier. I'm hoping very soon!
20 May 2014 @ 12:46 pm
In the last week I have almost mainlined S1 and S2 of Scandal. I have two eppys left in season two before I attack this season.

It's like crack. Evil, delicious crack.

I'm glad I have a custom layout and can view my f-list using it. At least I don't have to see most of these 'improvements'. But posting is annoying. Too much white.

I like to have background noise when I'm at home because silence unnerves me. Normally, I play songs from a playlist or I use the chill station on Pandora, but sometimes I don't want music per say.

The other day I found a great website that features non-stop calming rain.(With a little light thunder) It's perfect for reading or even sleeping. And if you prefer a blend of rain and music, you can click on link and it'll do it for you.

Saturday when I got home form work, I laid down on the sofa, pulled up this site and fell asleep for two hours. :)

I have mainlined almost every episode of Sherlock in the last few days. I'm carefully caressing the last eppy bemoaning, why only one left, why?

2015? really?

For every Joan of Arc, there’s a Mongolian wrestler princess; for every Mata Hari, there’s a Colombian revolutionary spy; for every Ada Lovelace, there’s a pin-up Austrian telecoms inventor.

For centuries, women all over the world have fought and ruled, written and taught. They’ve done business, explored, revolted and invented. They’ve done everything men have done — and a lot of things they haven’t.

Some of these women we know about. But so many others we don’t. For every Joan of Arc, there’s a Mongolian wrestler princess; for every Mata Hari, there’s a Colombian revolutionary spy; for every Ada Lovelace, there’s a pin-up Austrian telecoms inventor.

The women who shaped our planet are too many to mention, so here are just a few of the most frankly badass females of all time.

This is such a fascinating article.

Austin City Limits presents an epic hour with Nine Inch Nails. The special broadcast airs as a preview of our upcoming milestone 40th Anniversary Season. NIN’s arena-worthy ACL debut showcases ten songs, and will encore during the program’s Season 40, launching in the fall of 2014.

“We’ve waited a long time to do anything like this,” says Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor from the ACL stage. This rare hour of television with the legendary industrial rock band offers a fascinating look at their artistry in a flawless performance filled with unparalleled intensity. NIN’s Reznor and the seven-piece band—Alessandro Cortini, Josh Eustis, Robin Finck, Lisa Fischer, Sharlotte Gibson, Pino Palladino and Ilan Rubin—deliver an electrifying set that is a masterpiece of tension and release. Opening with the sultry “All Time Low” from the critically-acclaimed Hesitation Marks, their first album in five years, the band perform tracks from the recent release as well as earlier works, including 1999′s The Fragile. NIN segue into a revamped version of “Sanctified” from the 1989 debut Pretty Hate Machine, with the vocal duo of Fischer and Gibson adding soaring depth and texture to the pummeling rhythms throughout the riveting hourlong debut. The cathartic performance comes to a close with a redemptive take on the NIN classic “Hurt”, with Reznor gripping the microphone while howling the confessional lyrics as the Austin audience begs for more.

“We never thought we’d see the day when Nine Inch Nails would set foot on the ACL stage,” says Executive Producer Terry Lickona. “I mean, they never did television for 25 years! I came away from this show having the greatest respect for Trent Reznor. He’s one of the most focused, intense and creative artists I’ve ever worked with.”

Here are a couple full song previews:

This made me smile and laugh. Was it really that long ago? *face palm*

You know what’s awesome? A donkey lamb taxi. That sounds like a band name. Hey, when’s the next Donkey Lamb Taxi show?

When sheep herders in the hills of Lombardy, Italy need to move their flocks toward better grazing land, the wee lambs get a little help keeping up with their woolly family. Helpful donkeys are fitted with sets of special lamb-sized pouches. It’s ridiculously cute and cozy mass transit in the form of live taxis who are content to graze right along side the sheep.

I have these two vids downloaded on my desktop. They were my personal highlights from the 2014 Grammy Awards. Whenever I need a pick-me-up, I watch them. They're so entertaining.

Imagine Dragons & Kendrick Lamar -This is such an energetic performance

Daft Punk with Pharrell Williams ft. Stevie Wonder --This is so groovy and fun.
