** I have a posting date for my case story! It's 6/11, but it might be a day or two early because one of my artists is going out of town. I did the first set of edits and it's with my second beta now and I'm excited to post it soon!

** I've been working on a Kono and Steve sniper story for what seems like ages! This fic has battled me from every side and refused to work. I've re-written it several times and it's finally, possibly starting to gel. I have no idea why it's been such a bear and it's really not that long. I hit a little over 3k on it today.


**The Hawaii Five-O fic Awards was held recently. I didn't mention it on my LJ because it always feels odd and can cause weirdness in fandom, but people took the time to nominate and vote on my work and I wanted to say thank you. :D

I won best case fic and Steve centric story for "When the Ocean Meets the Shore" and "Against the Wall" won for best Danny and Steve h/c.

I was very surprised and flattered by this so thank you! Here is the Master List

I avoided Moonlight when it aired because you know...vampires and odd hair. Now I'm totally smitten with you and your smile and all those expressions! And the angst, oh my! I watched four episodes in a row and by the end of "Fever" I wanted to hug the stuffing out of you.

I could do without the voice overs and some of the cheese, but now I think it's just part of the charm. I can't wait to watch the rest!

I've spent a lot of time on Tumblr of late and have acquired a million wonderful Hawaii Five-O gifs. This is why I love this show! All the FEELINGS! All the love, laughs, pain and just so much hotness on my screen. It's my escape.

As some of you are probably aware - at the moment there is so much negativity going on in Fandom. And no, not just in a particular fandom but in almost all Fandoms *I* am part of/know of and who knows in how many more. Which is so very sad and to be honest - it pulled me down. Fandom was, is and should be my happy place that lets me forget the negativity that goes on in RL but lately it hadn't been. :(

So, today I thought: How about celebrating all the *squee*-worthy and wonderful things in Fandom?

Here is my idea: Squee Week

One week/Seven posts with/about things you like, love and make you go *squeee*. Be it a rec (for a fic/vid/art/podfic/meta/whatever), a pic you just have to smile/drool/go *squee* whenever you see it, a picspam, a fic, a vid, a meta post, a review of a TV-show/movie/book/whatever - everything that's positive, squee-y and Fandom related goes. Post it. Squee with your f-list. Let's bring back some positivity back into Fandom!

Title: The Good Samaritan (Five-0 Style)

Prompt: Kamekona has his hands full with a sick/injured/exhausted Steve after stopping by his home for whatever reason. Bonus points if he has to deal with any member of the team on the phone who can't be there.
Characters: Kamekona, Steve, Danny (minor appearances by Kono and Chin)
Summary: Kamekona has to try his hand at SEAL-sitting. (Kamekona POV)

Why rec’ed: Yes, this was written for me, but it’s such a wonderful, warm fuzzy story. The dialogue is amazing and Kamekona is so spot on that I could see and hear him perfectly. The mix of humor and h/c is sweet and lovely. Add in a confused, conked out Steve and a ranting, but caring Danny and you have a wonderful feel-good story.

This was gwalchmai345’s first story in the fandom so please give her lots of love!

Guys. You are AMAZING!!! I think I'm in this state of stunned shocked. I made my post and finally went to bed to take a nap and when I got up, but in the last few hours I got a flood of small donations and a couple very large generous ones (that I have verified with those people that they were not a mistake.)

I have reached the amount!!I have enough to pay my back-rent!! I think I might be shaking in relief and love and so much emotion that I beyond words.

When it rains, it pours.

Some of you know that I've been dealing with a couple of crises of late dealing with medical problems in my family. I try to roll with the punches, I'm not the only one going through problems in real life, we all are, but sometimes everything accumulates into a giant snowball and runs you over.

The other day my land lord knocked on my door with an itemized list of partial payments for rent over the last couple of months, including a date when he needs payment in full. Call me shocked. I wanted the ground to swallow me whole. I had no idea we'd only been making partial payments.

My husband is self employed. He lost one of his biggest clients a few months ago which was responsible for almost 70% of his income, but instead of telling me that he'd fallen behind, he tried to hiding it, hoping he'd make it up without stressing me out.

I found out. I'm beyond stressed.

My husband just found enough clients to make up for the big one he lost, but it's going to take month to complete the projects and generate normal income again. I can re-budget, sell a few things, trim our expenses to the bone even more than we live now. We can find a way to make this work, but I have no way to get out of the ditch we're in.

I talked to the landlord and he said if we pay him our back-rent, he'll work with us, he'll let us stay. I don't want to deal with courts, he doesn't want to deal with the courts, he just wants his money.

Guys, I've never done this in my life. I've never felt so suddenly backed in the corner with no way out. My mom can't help me, neither can my sister. My husband's parents are under water.

I'm desperate, so desperate that I've swallowed my pride and come hat in hand. This isn’t easy for me, but I could really use some help.

I have until June 1st to come up with $1,100 dollars. I'm juggling what bills I can afford to pay late and what I can do with my job, but it's so hard to come up with that much money in such a short amount of time.

If I we can get out of this hole, we shouldn’t fall back into it. I've crunched the numbers, I'm doing what I can so it won't happen again. Obviously I've talk to my husband about communication and honesty.

If any of you have something to spare anything,I would really appreciate it. I have a paypal account and I activated it. It can take all forms of payments.

If you can't afford anything, I understand. I've been there. Don't feel bad and don’t feel bad if you skip over this post.

A tree fell on my house yesterday during a freak storm. It kind of skimmed the apartment next to mine, so no, no one was hurt. Just some roof damage and the fact that it took all the electrical lines things with it.

Yay for having power!

I know we've had a very mild winter, but still! I wasn't feeling well yesterday so that means I've got to slosh through this mess later to go fill my cupboards. With all trees in bloom and wet snow they expect power outages. Maybe I'll take pictures.

I'm re-posting a modified version of my saving documents tips from last November because in the last two weeks, I've seen a half a dozen F-List disasters that have resulted in the loss of their stories, fics, or drafts. (Hugs you guys. I've been there)


I save all the time when I write. Pretty much after every few paragraphs I hit save. It's just one keystroke and it becomes a habit.

Don't just save to your hard drive.

Save your story to a flash-drive or to some other source. The one time you write 2k in one night is the one time your HD fails. A 4 GB flash drive is under $10 and can hold hundreds of novel length books. External hard drives are also great but can be pricey.

Use a free online app. Googledocs and Dropbox are online services that allow you to save tons of documents, edit them, and share privately with others like your beta.

Every time you write, e-mail yourself a copy of your fic. It's habitual. This way if your computer is hit my lightening, you've saved the latest version of your fic that is accessible from anywhere. I swear it becomes like second nature. When I'm done writing for the night, I send myself the doc. (I always delete the old one in my inbox after I send myself the newest one)

I also number my drafts. If I decide to go in and tweak a draft for some reason. I copy it and rename my new file Version 2 or V3, V4, before I make drastic changes. This way if I write for a bit and realize I liked the older version better--I have the older version in my writing folder.

Whatever you do, whatever works best for you. Make it a HABIT. And do not just save in one spot or use one method. Use more than one.
