[info]x_erikah_x created a beautiful cover for “Life’s Equations” for my holiday wish-list and it is simply amazing. Please go over there and check-it out and see what an awesome job she did!

------> “Cover Art”

[info]tridgetrequested a DVD commentary on a passage a couple of weeks ago and I finally able to sit down and type one out.

Step One:
• Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 unlimited holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

• If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

• Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two:
• Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

• If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

• You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out; it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

• There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Yesterday was about reflection of the past, today should be a celebration of family and friends. Wherever you are, however you observe, I wish everyone on my F-List a Happy Thanksgiving. Be safe and be happy!

I hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday. Sit back, relax, be with family and friends. I enjoy Thanksgiving for its modern tones and sentiments, to be thankful for your health, family, and what you have. This is the day to reflect that your life might not be that bad :D Keep in mind the millions in war-torn nations or those with no food at all.

Like many holidays, myth and historical accounts often get mixed and blown-out of proportion for commercialism. Below is an article on "The Real Thanksgiving". All I am offering is another perspective of the holiday and to keep in mind the sacrifices made by all.

Wow. So, um yeah. Go away for six or seven days right before Thanksgiving and I’m asking for trouble. I’m so swamped at work!! I guess when I’m the only one who knows how to run the database of a Natural and Organic Foods Co-op. I’m not allowed to leave! Let’s not mention the New York Bottle Water deposit fiasco!

I have a ton of e-mail to respond to, but I’ll wait until I have enough brain power to articulate real thought.

I started going through the artwork for SGABigBang, but only scratched the surface of admiring and commenting on the pieces. I started reading my first fic. The plan is to digest one or two a week and get through my list by the holidays: D

On the writing front, I haven’t started my Secret Santa yet, but will over the weekend. I have a lot fleshed out in my head and an outline minus the middle .

I still have a few DVD commentaries to do, however that whole lacking energy thing is forcing those back till later.

Enough of the long list of things to accomplish! I come bearing gifts because I love my f-list.

Another picspam. High res as usual. Mainly Sheppard with a few John and Ronon.

Enjoy!

Just saying a quick hello from Virgina! I've been having a great time visiting my mom and we both went to the WW2 Memorial the day after Veterans Day which was very moving. I'll be back early next week. Then I'll finally have time to read all the Big Bang Stories, look at the artwork, give feedback, and just enjoy reading a ton of novel-length stories!

I'll also be responding to all the wonderful comments to "Long Ago (And Far Away)" next week. (I've been able to read them all, but internet access is very limited here to write properly back.)

Pick a paragraph (or any passage 500-1000 words) from any fanfic I've written, and comment to this post with that selection. I will then give you a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what's going on in the character's heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you'd expect to find on a DVD commentary track.

Here is my “Masterlist”

**Kind of sad. I've only written three stories all year? Really? Jeesh. I feel like I've done nothing but write for the last twelve months**

Resistance is Futile...

• Leave me a comment saying "Resistance is Futile."
• I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can satisfy my curiosity
• Update your journal with the answers to the questions
• Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions

1. What is the most memorable thing you've ever seen or read?

Ack, that’s hard one. Besides family stuff like meeting my husband or stuff with my mom. I used to be a club promoter, started on a Monday night at a hip-hop venue, promoting electronic music, where only my friends showed up. Five years later, our last show before I retired, we were part of a large festival and our event was spread across two clubs with two outdoor and indoor stages. When I was behind the DJ both looking over at the crowd of dancing, smiling, happy people and realized they came because of something I put together. Well, that was a very memorable moment.

2. What attracts you to writing?

It is escapism. My little hidey hole from real life and something I look forward to.

3. What story makes you the most proud that you wrote?

Another toughie. “Long Ago (And Far Away)” I think has stretched me most as a writer and I think is some my best work with [info]everybetty. As far as my solo work I’d have to say “Imago-The Tao of John” . My SGA Big Bang Story of 2008.

4. What's your absolute favorite meal ever?

For my mom’s 60th birthday I save up for a night on the town and a play. We ate at a place called “Bones” and it was a five star restaurant and had the most amazing food. I was shocked at the ten dollar salad, but I got to say it was the best salad I’d ever had. Mom and I split this dish that had filet minegon, lamb, and I want to say pork medallions.

5. If you could change any one thing about any fandom, what would it be?

That people actually enjoyed their fandom instead of picking it apart, over analyzed it to death, or plain losing sight to the reason why they got into a particular show.
