This is my fanfic master list for Stargate Atlantis.

April 09

Title: “The Sting”
Summary: The team has to go undercover to root out the latest threat to Pegasus. A drug dealer trafficking the Wraith enzyme. Who’s going to con who? And most importantly. Who has the coolest costume? Team fic. Lots of guns, fights, and insults.

December

Title: “Through the Looking Glass”
Summary: "Madness is to think of too many things in succession too fast, or of one thing too exclusively” - Voltaire. There is something odd going on with John and Rodney. Maybe everyone. Or it could be the darkness closing in.

Title: “Sympathy for the Devil”
Summary: What happens in Vegas, doesn't stay in Vegas, or end the episode. Missing coda.

November

Title: “Neither Friend Nor Foe”
Summary: Todd was eerily calm while his own people swarmed closer. He must have sensed the internal battle and shrugged his shoulders, not caring that the barrel of an automatic rifle was shoved in his face. “You can fight alone, John Sheppard. Your choice.”

Title: “The World is My Creation”
Authors:kristen999 wildcat88 everybetty
Summary: The goal of every mission is to make contact with people, explore and discover new things, and try not to die. On an everchanging world where nothing is what it appears, the staying alive part is the biggest challenge.

It has been a busy few weeks. I had a great time with my mom although the craziness involved to see her is downright annoying. I have to take a bus to the airport, (there’s no direct flight to Fredericksburg) so I go to Baltimore where I either pay too much for a 2 ½ hour Amtrak ticket complete with delays and a long stop in D.C or I take two local trains that are cheaper. All in all and it always takes eight hours to get there and eight back.

But I do get to sleep most of the time!

Virginia Beach was just heaven. We stayed at the far end of the boardwalk and where there were very few people. The Wydman hotel was just awesome, right there on the beach, the most amazing beds and a freaking HD TV and I got it on a web special and paid less for it then a Holiday Inn.

Other then that I’ve been working and getting ready for Eric’s mom to visit us next week!

I have not seen “Torch Wood Children of Earth” yet. I’m catching it on the BBC America broadcast. My husband has actually expressed interest in seeing it based on the trailers. He’s only seen a handful of eppys and has enjoyed the characters and plot, but not the special effects. I think it’s cool that he’s eager to watch the min-series even if I’ve seen mixed reviews. I have general spoilers but nothing specific, so if you have any comments please keep them general.

I’ve also found myself watching “Law and Order Criminal Intent” but only when Jeff Goldblum is on. I’ve always enjoyed his quirky characters and really..it’s like he’s playing himself than a role :-P

I wonder how the fandom deals with this ‘split’ in both leads. On one hand I think it works…each set of characters have whole episodes, but part of me wonders if it leads to a division with fans. I admit I only started watching the L&O because of Jeff Goldblum as I’m not a fan of the Gordon character.

I’ve hit 10k on my Big Bang fic. (Only the first two chapters!) I started writing it on June 22nd so I’m thinking that’s good progress. I never expected it to go this long. There’s a lot of ‘set-up’ to this and the writing is slow going with the research, but I’m loving the co-writing approach with Beth.

I write a few thousand words and e-mail them to he and she spice-up’s the sections, adding details or does little re-writes. She’ll ask my questions or make suggestions and I’ll go back over her stuff and tweak things before sending it back. It makes it feel more like a collaborative effort this wad and I hope to tag out next week so she can tackle the next part.

Of course crazy me will work on the John and Ronon fic when Beth is writing her section….oh boys..I promise to get you out of you dire situation soon.

I keep meaning to do an update, but I’ve been so swamped since I got back from my trip. I’ll do one eventually, but for now I can’t stop staring at the new Joe Flanigan promo picture floating around for “Warehouse 13’.

It doesn’t make work very productive, but good grief is this just an amazingly hot pic!

It’s Vegas!John just less damaged!

Thanks to [info]wildcat88 and half my F-list for posting it!

For those of you looking form something to read voting is now open for the Stargate Fan Awards.

You can vote for your favorites until July 31st, 2009 at http://www.sg-awards.com/.

I’m using the categories as a type of check-list. There’s Gen and slash. And all stories are under a character, or duets (example John and Rodney friendship or Ronon and John friendship)then sub categories like angst, H/C, drama, and action adv. There are also Team fics subdivided by genre.

Basically there’s a little bit for everyone.

Anyone can read the stories, but you have to register to vote..Or if you’re already registered then your login and password sill works.

Happy reading!

I think this is just a wonderful picture. Maybe it's the lighting, the expression. I'm not sure, but it brightened my day. Hope it does yours.

Under the cut for HD quality and size.

Title: “ Five times John’s men were proud to have him as a CO”
Author: [info]smilesbackwards
Summary: The men have learned to trust Sheppard, to follow him with their eyes full of awe.

Why rec'ed: This is an awesome look at Sheppard through various eyes of members of the Military. Sparse, tight writing, but with a depth of knowledge and feeling.

I love these types of fics!

I’ve been an NCIS fan for a few years, going through periods of watching it of and on, but always seeing most of the episodes after a period of time. Thanks to marathons about every single freaking day, it’s been easy to catch up.

I actually enjoyed the ‘cross over' eppy with the Spin off L.A one. I really liked Sam (LL Cool L” and Callen (O’Donnell’s) angsty character. Wasn’t impressed with Louise Lombard in this, mainly because she’s way too young to have known Gibbs and her personal connection with him was very forced.

I plan on giving it a view come fall. Plus, Linda Hunt is joining the cast which is cool!

Excuse me for the following rant/whine

My main point of the post was I got excited when I discovered the [info]ncisficfind site because I wanted a distraction from my SGA writing. I was bad and searched through it at work and wondered…am I the only one that finds the quality of NICSI fics to be very sub-standard?

I mean I know the SGA has some great writers and I tend not to set my bar too high when searching other fandoms, but I was really amazed. The overall quality of the stories are shockingly clichéd, with poor characterizations, and more fic tropes then you can shake a stick.

And the few that looked pretty good and I was willing to give a chance are all 20+ chapter fics where the chapters are around 1,000 words. And it seems they’re all like that.

What the heck? In my own writing I tend to have 5-6k word chapters as a rule which I know is kinda of high, but when I set off to read something else, I expect at least 3k words at a time if you’re going to create any time of mood, action or have some real plot development.

I don’t have time to copy and paste a 20 chapter 20k word fic when I’m netless right now.

I guess SGA has spoiled me, but I don’t think I’m searching for the perfect NCIS story, just something with a decent plot and characterizations that lean H/C.

Sigh.

Okay rant over. Guess I’ll go back to writing Big Bang..lol

At least 100,000 demonstrators marched silently through the streets of Tehran tonight in a direct challenge to the authority of Iran's clerical regime. Pictures were taken from Twitter.

Over 100 Political Reformists have been jailed in the last 24 hours. The US-based International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran said that several dozen noted figures associated with Iran’s reformist movement had been arrested yesterday, among them politicians, intellectuals, activists and journalists.

The summer has been beautiful here. The highs are only in the low 70’s and we have the ‎windows open all day. Eric and I went to a massive arts festival on Sunday and I think I ‎could have spent tons of money form glasswork to paintings. We bought one awesome ‎Chinese prints of these birds and flowers at a reasonable price. We have the lady’s ‎website so over the next year I plan ion purchasing companion piece.‎

I’ve been watching the new on Iranian election. It is amazing the power of new media ‎and the people protesting have used the net to connect and rally. The gov’t is shutting it ‎down but they are still managing to get together. I don’t condone the violence, but I ‎applaud them trying to make their voices heard.‎

Sadly I doubt much will happen. The Supreme Leader controls the country and voting ‎commission is run by Mr. AB.‎

Many think the election was probably close and not the overwhelming landslide that ‎‎‘took place’. But let’s face it. 40 million people voted with paper ballots, no voting ‎machines and the news announced a winner only a few hours later?‎

I can only hope that this will plant a seed for the millions of Iranians who seek greater ‎freedom.‎

On a less serious note. I hit 45k word on the big Ronon and John story. I’m finding this a ‎very complex fic to write. Not only from the plot stand point, but the fact that I’m putting ‎and pushing characters in many ways and thus pushing myself our of my own comfort ‎zone of writing.‎

I’m really playing with the boundaries of John’s personality and I find writing Ronon ‎when he is out of his element. The one needing help and support to be difficult, but I’m ‎enjoying the heck of it.‎

Oh and John...well let’s just say that he is on a slow downward spiral.‎

There is definably a lot of emotion and angst in this..but there is also a lot of character ‎exploration.‎

It seems like forever since I’ve updated. I’m not getting into my internet access issues just that they are still on-going.

The past few weeks have been good. The spring weather has been lovely. High 60’s to low 70s for the high. Beautiful days make the walk home nice. Went to the Pride Parade yesterday to support some friends who were walking in it. Lot’s of bar-b-qs and picnics!

I’ve been watching a lot of documentaries on the History channel of late. Pretty much anything, but the ones on Ancient Chinese technology and accomplishments have been so intriguing. I also started re-watching OZ for some reason. Wow, that show is heavy, but so well written.

There’s an arts festival this weekend I hope to pick a few things for the house.

I was asked to take over the Sheppard HC community so trying to update tags and such has been daunting with lack of computer time, but I’m almost done. I took a poll for future challenges and took note on how the writer responses varied from those who only read. I don’t think we’ll be doing any that overlap for now, on and either have a Flashfic or a long challenge in effect.

Beth and I outlined a good framework for the BIG Bang challenge. Despite the research already done, we’re going to need to do a bit more. (Makes mental note to post question on Military beta later).

The John and Ronon epic is ongoing. I have no idea the word count, I think it has hit over 40k words, I’m not sure. They are all broken up into chunks on my hard drive.

I’ll be doing an update to my masterlist in the next hour and post the changes to that.

In the mean time, how about a lovely, high def pic to drool over?

Enjoy!

Thanks to [info]crysothemis for posting the link to Joe’s Q&A from Hungry. I actually enjoyed some of them, they really ranged in variety. A few highlights:

The link:

Carmen
Hello Joe! You play the chararcter of someone who is a good friend, a brave fighter who can also be very attractive and has a lot of sex appeal and i was wondering how much of yourself you find in that description? Thank you.

Joe: I am too smart to answer that question

Katja
What are you doing currently, I mean after the end of SGA? Some long vacation or rather shooting something new? We miss you terribly ;-)!

Joe: Just finished shooting a project in Toronto. Supposed shoot a film in July. Don’t want to get involved in another TV project unless the character is really interesting

Deb Selle
I'm still holding out hope for the Stargate Atlantis movie :-). But in the meantime, what type of projects are you interested in getting involved in? Another series possibly, or a movie, or a play?

Joe: I have been really fortunate in my career and hope that I continue to be. I have been offered a number fo things since I quit Atlantis. Many of them require relocations that would prove too difficult on my family. Some are simply not as interesting as my role as John Sheppard. I am looking for a show that will really invest in their lead characters. I’ll be shooting a movie in July

Gina
Hello, Joe. I'm a forteen-year-old girl from Hungary. I have three questions for you. 1. I know that you play the guitar. What kind of music do you play? 2. I hope that you don't smoke. Am I right? 3. After three boys, would you like a girl, too? Have a nice day! Gina

Joe: Love all kinds of music. Listening to RadioHead right now. Mozart this morning. Probably be listeing to Rage Agianst the Machine by the afternoon. I do not smoke, at all. I’m very active and could never keep up my schedule of games if I smoked. I love my boys. I even love their problems. I would like to have a girl, but would probably adopt if I had another one. There are too many children in need.

He's doing a film, likes Radiohead and has a wicked sense of humor!!

The Genficathon is over and the reveals have been made. I wrote:

Title: “The Sting”
Genre:Action/Adventure
Prompt Don’t bring a knife to a gun fight
Word Count: 13,600~
Rating:PG
Warnings:None
Summary: The team has to go undercover to root out the latest threat to Pegasus. A drug dealer trafficking the Wraith enzyme. Who’s going to con who? And most importantly. Who has the coolest costume? Team fic. Lots of guns, fights, and insults.
Notes: Big, wonderful thanks to my betas: [info]everybetty and[info]wildcat88

This was a hoot and a half to write. I loved my prompt and I had this idea that I felt fit it perfectly. I enjoyed playing outside the box, but it’s still very me. Just with an added fun factor.

I’m very excited! Beth and I are going to Chicago Con!!! We bought our plane tickets and hotel using a combo deal!! I know it’s kind of a reverse order, but the con tickets are a fixed price and we couldn’t pass up on the deal we scored on the plane and hotel!!

I do plan on getting the preferred tickets, had to pass on Gold in order to do the trip.

They added Rachel Luttrell to The Special Guests! This Means Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks, Joe Flanigan, Paul Mcgillion, And Connor Trinneer will all be there!!

I’m thrilled. I know Jason and Joe will be at Dragon Con, with a ton of other guests, but I don’t want to go to a con with 25,000++ people. I want to meet some of my fellow SGA fans!

Secondly I wanted to announce that they’ve opened sign ups for [info]sgabigbang this year!! This is a lot of fun and a very well organized community. I did it last year and wrote “Imago” and loved the experience.

Here is the link to this year’s [info]sgabigbang. You can be an artist or writer. If you can’t do either but want to partake in things, you can be a cheerleader or beta reader as well! All the info is at this post.

I’m still without any real internet access, but I do check things out at work. I’ve been trying to catch up on a backlog of reading but I’m making a lot of progress.

I hit 35k on my giant John and Ronon fic and for some reason it doesn’t sound like a lot. (That’s a lot, right?) Oi.

It seems like I’ve been writing this fic forever and my poor muse is working very hard. I owe a lot to my alpha and beta readers without their support, I’d be writing in a giant tunnel without a light!

I decided to have a little fun. The genficathon is over now. The two links below have the master list for week’s one and two.

The first person to guess what I wrote will get a custom drabble. (I need to write something small outside the world I'm in right now..lol) I think the big reveal is in a few days and I’ll make a post with my story once that happens.

Just reply to this with your guess here. I’m curious if I can be spotted.

I’m not dead. Promise

This weekend we spring cleaned. I also took many walks outside because it is beautiful out right now. We also watched a weird combination of “Torchwood” “Dr. Who” “Supernatural” and ..um.. "Deadliest Catch”.

See the Dr. Who eppy we saw didn’t have horrid special effects or giant bees. If I could see more of the eppys that are just odd without the cheese factor, I’d love to watch more. The one about the Doctor trapped on the space transport with the passengers freaking out was very well done. I liked that!

Yes, I still don’t have the net, and it’s grown to this saga of woe I don’t want to talk about.

So, I sneak online at work and go to the library. Read about 6 genficathon stories, so that’s been fun.

Going to try to see the new Trek film this week and the new “Terminator’ movie looks awesome. I love Christen Bale and I think showing the machine war is exactly what the franchise needs.

I’ve been writing. I’m hitting the end of my first story arc, hitting about 33,000 words. I still have two more arcs to go so yeah..do the math. This thing is going to be huge when I’m done.

It so another week has passed without the internet. After five days of waiting for the new modem, it did not work. They've checked outside and there's something up with our line but of course the weekend = no work from the repair guy.

My job has been Hell, been going in early, coming home late. So, its not like I have a ton of time at home, but is still stinks. Been copying fic onto my flashdrive to read at the house with every intention of leaving feedback the next day but all I want to do when I get off work is go home.

I'll just have a nice long day of commenting once things have calmed down.

Writing wise obviously my genficathon story was submitted and I'm working on "Red Sands" when I can. I wrote 20k words in the month of April but most of those went towards the gen fic entry.

Hope all is well with folks. I'll catch up on e-mail and such when I can.

K
